GENERAL INFORMATION

ABOUT THE CENTRE FOR RURAL DEVELOPMENT IN CENTRAL VIETNAM (CRD)

I. GENERAL INFORMATION

The Centre for Rural Development in Central Vietnam (CRD) is a non-profit organization dedicated to promoting sustainable rural development across the central region of Vietnam.

While established by Decision No. 73/QĐ-TC dated November 7, 1995 issued by the President of Hue University, CRD operates as an autonomous unit with full independence in financial management and strategic decision-making. This autonomy enables CRD to respond flexibly, innovate effectively, and collaborate widely with diverse partners, from local communities to international development agencies.

Staff of the Centre for Rural Development in Central Vietnam in Hue

CRD has 15 full-time staff and 20 regular collaborators, who are experts from member universities of Hue University. The team brings together diverse expertise and hands-on experience in key areas such as agriculture, economics, environment, community development, climate change, natural resource management, biodiversity, and so on. The Center operates under its own independent decision-making system and is not administratively dependent on the University of Agriculture and Forestry, Hue University. As such, CRD has been functioning as a local non-governmental organization (NGO).
