From May 16 to 20, 2026, the Centre for Rural Development in Central Vietnam (CRD) organized a series of training courses to enhance knowledge on community forest management, protection, and development in Long Quang, A Luoi 4, and A Luoi 5 communes, Hue City.
The training courses saw the participation of trainees from Community Forest Management Boards and members of forest patrol teams in the project communes, with women accounting for nearly 60% of the total participants.
The activity aimed to equip trainees with practical forest management and protection knowledge and skills tailored to the local conditions of each area. This enables communities to maximize their ownership role in sustainable forest resource management.
Throughout the training, the lecturers closely integrated theoretical concepts with practical, real-life examples connected to the local people’s daily lives. Utilizing a learner-centered approach, members of the Community Forest Management Boards actively discussed and shared the advantages and challenges within their localities. This helped all parties clearly understand their functions, duties, and coordination mechanisms in local forest patrolling and protection.
The training concluded successfully, achieving all set objectives. Trainees not only gained a clear understanding of the organizational structure and roles of forest management groups and raised their awareness of forestry law compliance, but they also became proficient in detecting and reporting forest violations. This outcome serves as a significant foundation for capacity building for Community Forest Management Boards, promoting gender equality and community participation. This is the key to achieving sustainable forest resource management while opening new pathways for improving livelihoods for upland communities within the project area.
