Under the framework of the Project “Solutions and Actions for People and Nature” funded by WWF-Vietnam, from May 11 to 15, 2026; the Centre for Rural Development in Central Vietnam (CRD), in coordination with local authorities, organized meetings to gather feedback and approve regulations on forest management, protection, and development in A Luoi 4, A Luoi 5, and Long Quang communes, Hue City.
The meetings were held at the Commune People’s Committees, attracting the participation of representatives from Community Forest Management Boards, village executive boards, organizations, local households, commune judicial officers, local forest rangers, and project staffs. Each meeting was attended by approximately 54 delegates, with at least 50% of participants were women, demonstrating an equal participation of the community in forest resource management.
The primary objective of the activity was to reach a consensus among community members and finalize the content of the Regulations on Community Forest Management, Protection, and Development before submitting them to the Commune People’s Committees for review and approval. A participatory approach was applied throughout the process to ensure that local voices were heard and fully reflected in the regulations.
During the meetings, community representatives presented each clause of the draft regulations in detail. Following each section, delegates discussed, provided feedback, and proposed adjustments suited to the local reality of forest management. Comments were synthesized, adjusted on-site, and voted on for approval with the direct participation of community members.
As a result, the meetings successfully achieved all set goals and objectives. Numerous practical ideas were incorporated to enhance the feasibility and community accountability in forest management, protection, and development. Moving forward, the project will continue to assist the community in completing the meeting minutes and consolidating the revised contents to submit to the Commune People’s Committees for official approval decisions.
Mr. Ho Van Hoi shared: “The community forest management regulations are built on high consensus and agreement among community members; therefore, the community needs to strictly adhere to the established regulations as well as relevant legal provisions.”
This activity contributes to strengthening the role of the community in forest resource management, promoting community-based forest governance mechanisms, and enhancing local residents’ responsibility in protecting natural resources.
