From the 5th to 7th of December, the project “Strengthening the capacity of social organizations on child rights governance – Phase II” funded by Save the Children International organized 03 communication sessions on the theme of “Accident and injury prevention and child-centered climate change adaption” in Quảng Bình province.

The Center for Rural Development in Central Vietnam (CRD) in collaboration with the Department of Labour, Invalids and Social Affairs, the secondary schools of Hàm Ninh, An Ninh and Bảo Ninh of Quảng Bình province organized these communication sessions. There were around 1200 students, leaders, teachers and representatives from the People’s Committees of Hàm Ninh, An Ninh communes (Quảng Ninh district) and Bảo Ninh ward (Đồng Hới city).

At the communication sessions, teachers provided students with useful and practical knowledge to protect children from climate change, natural disasters, accidents and injury. Students actively participated in the sessions through interactive games such as: sea level rise, ring the golden bell, fun quizzes with gifts that helped them learn more about essential skills including rescue skill, emergency escape from natural disasters of storm, thunder, tsunami, flood, etc.

Apart from equipping knowledge and skills, the communication sessions also created spaces for students to express their ideas and wishes through dialogues with the schools.

In these events, impressive paintings related to climate change were also displayed. The messages like “Protect our living environment”; ‘Wake up and Take action for a green planet” and “Color green for our lives” were delivered to the participants. Students spread the spirit of green warriors who have mission to protect the environment by calling other people to save electricity, actively respond to climate change, disaster and encourage people to use environmentally friendly products.
