The seminar was attended by Assoc. Prof. Dr. Tran Thanh Duc – Rector of Hue University of Agriculture and Forestry; Mr. Nguyen Dai Anh Tuan – Deputy Director of the Department of Agriculture and Environment of Hue City; Dr. Truong Quang Hoang – Director of CRD; Mr. Nguyen Hoai Khuong – Representative of WWF-Vietnam; Mr. Nguyen Huu Hung – Head of Forest Management and Protection Division, Hue City Forest Protection Department, along with numerous faculty and staff of the university. Notably, the event attracted more than 40 students, who actively participated in the discussions, demonstrating strong interest in environmental conservation and sustainable development.

A highlight of the seminar was the overview presentation by Mr. Nguyễn Hoài Khương, representative of WWF-Vietnam, on the biodiversity conservation and wildlife protection activities that WWF is implementing in Vietnam. Following that, the author group presented the book in detail, covering its objectives, content, and intended audience of the reference book “Biodiversity Conservation: Scientific Basis and Successful Practices in Vietnam.”

The discussion session was lively and open, with active participation from delegates and students. Students were introduced to a variety of accessible and scientifically valuable environmental and conservation literature. They also engaged enthusiastically in interactive activities such as a biodiversity quiz and discussions on pressing issues like biodiversity loss, illegal wildlife trade, and especially the roles and responsibilities of young people in protecting natural resources.

On this occasion, WWF-Vietnam and the Center for Rural Development in Central Vietnam donated copies of the reference book to the university library, contributing to enriching the academic resources available for research and learning.

In his closing remarks, Dr. Truong Quang Hoang – Director of the Center for Rural Development in Central Vietnam – emphasized that in the context of increasingly visible climate change and ecological crises in everyday life, such activities are truly necessary and meaningful. He highlighted that the seminar was not only an opportunity for students to deepen their knowledge of environmental and biodiversity conservation but also a chance to spread the message of living green and responsibly among the young generation.

The seminar titled “Introducing reference books and sharing information on biodiversity conservation and wildlife protection” was one of the activities within the framework of the project Voices for Diversity – VFD funded by the World Wide Fund for Nature (WWF) and jointly implemented by the Center for Rural Development in Central Vietnam (CRD).
