From November 28 to 30, 2025, at A Luoi 2 Commune, the Winter Highland Fair took place vibrantly, featuring 12 booths from local organizations and communities. It was hosted by the People’s Committee of A Luoi 2 Commune, the fair aimed to introduce signature local medicinal and agricultural products to consumers and tourists.
Participating in the fair, the A Tia 1 Medicinal Plant Cultivation and Processing Cooperative Group introduced two main product lines: medicinal seedlings (Myxopyrum smilacifolium, Sarcandra glabra) and processed products made from leaves Myxopyrum smilacifolium and Ampelopsis cantoniensis including dried herbal tea, tea bags. Over the three-days event, the booth welcomed approximately 350 visitors, selling 20 seedlings and 11 packaged products.
Visiting the booth, Ms. A Lang Thi Hau, Chairwoman of the Women’s Union of A Luoi 1 Commune, recognized the cooperative group’s initial efforts in processing and commercializing products. She also emphasized the necessity of strengthening linkages with forest management communities to ensure a stable supply of raw materials while encouraging local participation in forest protection.
The fair served not only as an opportunity to promote local products but also demonstrated the potential for livelihood development from indigenous medicinal plants. This contributes to opening up income-generating opportunities for ethnic minority women, closely tied to the conservation of natural resources and traditional knowledge.
This activity was conducted under the project “Promoting Conservation of Indigenous Medicinal Plants Linked to Livelihood Improvement for Ethnic Minority Women in A Luoi,” implemented by the Centre for Rural Development in Central Vietnam (CRD) with financial support from ERM.
